THE FESTIVAL

At a time when Brazil is positioned as one of the largest consumers of South Korean audiovisual productions, which were elevated to another level after the film Parasite broke barriers, winning four awards at the 2020 Oscars, as well as the Palme d’Or in Cannes 2019 and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film in 2020, it is of utmost importance to carry out a project that celebrates the excellence of South Korean cinematography in the World.

Korean Film Festival SP - KOFF was created by a group of enthusiasts of Korean culture, with the intention of celebrating the 60th anniversary of Korean immigration to Brazil, in 2023, and to promote the continuity of the initiative for the following years, as well as to celebrate the Day of Korean Culture in the city of Piracicaba, in the state of São Paulo.

program‘s program presents a Competitive Screening and a Non-Competitive Screening, screening 30 films among short and feature films, including Opening and Closing Events, International Debates with Korean and Brazilian filmmakers, producers and professionals, Video Production Workshops and Awards Night and Tributes.

In its first edition, the Korean Film Festival SP – KOFF is held at the Theater of Engenho Central, in the city of Piracicaba, with institutional support from the Municipal Secretary of Cultural Action of Piracicaba, the Museum of Image and Sound – MISP of Piracicaba, the City Council of Piracicaba, the City Hall of Piracicaba and the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of the State of São Paulo.
