In a small rural village in Gangwon-do, Korea, Ye-bun, a sixty-something woman who runs a funeral service, has spent the last year in a stream with a metal detector, searching for traces of her granddaughter Su- jeong, who died in a rafting accident. One day, her old friend Ok-im visits her and makes an unexpected request: that Ye-bun take care of her granddaughter after her death.
