At a time when Brazil is positioned as one of the largest consumers of South Korean audiovisual productions, which were elevated to another level after the film “Parasite” broke barriers, winning four awards at the 2020 Oscars, in addition to the Palme d'Or at Cannes 2019 and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film in 2020, including in this successful trajectory the film “Past Lives”, which won in 2024 the awards for Best Director and Best Film at the Film Independent Spirit Awards and was nominated for two awards at the Oscar 2024, the realization and continuity of a project that celebrates the excellence of South Korean cinematography in the world is of utmost importance.

KOFF – Festival de Cinema Coreano SP, event from the Official Calendar of Events of the city of Piracicaba, was created by a group of Korean culture enthusiasts, with the aim of celebrating 60 years of Korean immigration in Brazil, in 2023, and promoting the continuity of the initiative for the following years, as well as celebrating Korean Culture Day in the city of Piracicaba, in the state of São Paulo.

KOFF program presents a Competitive Section and a Non-Competitive Section, showing 40 films including short films and feature films, Opening and Closing Events, International Debates with filmmakers, Korean and Brazilian producers and market professionals, Video Production Workshops and a Awards and Tributes Night.

In its second edition, Korean Film Festival SP – KOFF is held at the Teatro do Engenho Central, in the city of Piracicaba and at the Reserva Cultural Cinema in the city of São Paulo, with the institutional support of the Municipal Secretariat for Cultural Action, the Image Museum and Sound – MISP, the City Council and the City Hall of Piracicaba, carried out by the São Paulo Institute of Art and Culture – ISPAC, Alexa Films and Trein Produções, Secretariat of Culture and Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industries of the State of São Paulo and Brazilian Ministry of Culture.
