Sixteen years after leaving her hometown, Areum, who is in despair due to a business failure, receives news that her mother is critically ill. Suddenly, Areum remembers her mother's only asset: the old house. She feels that if she could only possess that house, her intense childhood unrequited love for her mother could be compensated. So, with heavy steps, Areum moves toward her hometown house where her brother is alone. However, her brother ultimately does not open the door, and her hatred for him torments her, mixed with the guilt she has never confessed to anyone.
