A taxi driver from Seoul is hired by a foreign journalist to take him to the city of Gwangju. Upon arriving there, they come across the place taken over by the military government and the citizens, led by a group of students, demanding freedom. What begins with a simple taxi ride becomes a fight for survival amid the Gwangju Uprising, a real event that took place in South Korea in May 1980.
